Phantom quartz is a variety of clear quartz where you are able to see the growth lines of the crystal inside the main crystal body. This occurs when the crystal growth abruptly stops and then resumes again at a much later time. There can be many growth lines or phantoms, as they are called, in one specimen depending on how many times the growth cycle was interrupted. It is common to see some chlorite inclusions in the phantom quartz.
Phantom quartz represents wisdom and knowledge and is said to encourage personal and spiritual growth. The amplifying energies of the clear quartz are present and as such make this a good stone to use for meditation, helping you to connect with a higher level of consciousness. It is said to be helpful for psychic development.
