Larvikite is a rock comprised of various minerals from the feldspar family. Albite, anorthite, anorthoclase, perthite, plagioclase, and nepheline syenite are all present. The composition of these minerals together create interesting flashes of light and colour throughout the rock. It is primarily found in Norway and Canada.
Larvikite is sometimes called black moonstone which is technically incorrect. It is often used for industrial purposes and is seen used to make countertops in kitchens and bathrooms.
