Elite or Noble is the name given to high-quality specimens of shungite that have the highest concentrations of carbon and naturally occurring, antimicrobial, fullerene particles. The high carbon content gives elite shungite a silver, shiny appearance. Elite shungite has up to 98% carbon as compared to regular black shungite with amounts closer to 35%. Elite shungite should be handled delicately as it can flake and will leave a black carbon residue on your hands, fabric, or surfaces.

Shungite is a mineral comprised of non-crystalline carbon and may sometimes be found with inclusions of other minerals such as calcite or pyrite. Its original source was Russia. It is a conductor of electricity and has been scientifically studied for its purification and detoxifying properties.

Shungite is said to block electromagnetic radiation and to have strong cleansing and protective properties both literally and metaphysically. Buyer beware though as there are many fake or low-quality shungite stones on the market. The higher the carbon content in the stone, the higher the quality and its effects.

Shungite is said to block negativity and prevent it from returning. Its water purification ability is well studied.
